Joshua Tree National Park...

One of my second homes...

 ...is Joshua Tree National Park.  So, about two weeks ago I stayed at the park into the evening for some night photography work.  

The rock formation shown in this photo is... wait for it....Skull Rock!  

I shot this image using a 3-second exposure at f/3.5.  The ISO was set at 25600.  In addition, my wife was shining a flashlight on the rock formation.

Dead Joshua...

Bighorn Sheep...

    Whitewater Preserve.  These animals' ability to walk along these rocky ledges is amazing.

The Dangerous Beauty of the Cajon Pass...

 Off-road trail in the Cajon Pass.  Notice how it winds perilously close to the ledge!

These green bushes, which seem to be surrounded by large rocks caught my eye!

Cajon Pass...

 

This is a trail that begins at Cleghorn Rd.  Look at how rough the surrounding terrain is.  Imagine coming through here in the days of the Mormon Pioneers, before the toll road and the network of trails that off-roaders enjoy today.

El Paso Mountains...

Notice the trail that runs along the ledge.  The dark-shaded mountain in the distance is Black Mountain.  Beyond Black Mountain, the Sierra Nevada Range can be seen.
