Mormon Country....

Captain Andrew Lytle was a member of one of the Morman Battalion companies that was coming through the Cajon Pass, on their way to San Bernardino.  The year was 1851.  Six years later, the first settlers began to populate a canyon that was later named for Lytle:  Lytle Creek.

I took this photo, as I was wondering through the canyon, along the unpaved portion of Lytle Creek Rd.  Large hills tower over the road on both sides.  The snow covering these hills made me forget, for a few moments, that I was in Southern California.
